“The process of making a painting is very like the evolution of a landscape with layers built up, scratched into, worked on top of, then stripped away, erased, and then built on again, while still revealing traces of the former surface.”
There is always an element of choosing with a still life, but the things which mean something to the painter may mean nothing to the viewer - so ultimately it is just a means of playing with the same textures and layering and movement as in the landscapes….
Paintings illustrated are sold - please see 'New Work' for items for sale.
