“The process of making a painting is very like the evolution of a landscape with layers built up, scratched into, worked on top of, then stripped away, erased, and then built on again, while still revealing traces of the former surface.”
Drawing is always the beginning - sometimes for facts, or structure, or texture, or movement, but every painting starts from a drawing of some kind and then goes through a process of development until the painting process takes over and then I wait and see what happens……. and when to stop ? - when what has been produced seems ……true.
